No one can rig me out of Jigawa senatorial race -Ex-IG

A former Inspector General of Police and Peoples Democratic Party Senatorial candidate for Jigawa Southwest, Sulaiman Abba, has said no one can rig him out of the race.

Abba spoke on Wednesday in Dutse while interacting with journalists to mark the commencement of his campaign activities for the presidential and National Assembly elections.

He said, “With the kick-off of the 2027 electioneering today, Wednesday, it has become imperative to caution the opposition against election manipulation.”

The former police boss said that as the Inspector General of Police during the 2015 general elections, he contributed immensely to the development of democracy by ensuring free, fair and credible polls.

He warned that any attempt to rig him out of victory in 2027 will be vehemently resisted by the people of Jigawa Central.

The former IGP reaffirmed that the PDP under his watch cannot be intimidated or rigged out in the forthcoming elections.

He said, “My 31 years of experience in law enforcement have exposed me to all forms of election rigging antics; hence no one can rig me out. Any attempt to rig us out will fail. We will not allow it. The era of writing results is over in Jigawa Central and the state as a whole.”

The senatorial candidate, however, promised to conduct his political campaign in a respectful manner and in accordance with the law.

He said, “As a law enforcement officer for 31 years, who rose from the rank of ASP to IGP, I assure you that you are going to see one of the most peaceful campaigns. We are going to do it according to the law with decorum and respect for everyone.”

Abba explained that his decision to join politics was not to antagonise anybody but to serve the people.

Furthermore, the senatorial candidate said he wants to be in the Senate to use his vast experience to bring dividends of democracy to the people of Jigawa Southwest and defend their rights for better development.

Accordingly, the former IGP highlighted some of his areas of focus if elected as Senator for Jigawa Central to include agriculture, security and job creation for the teeming youth in the zone.

He said, “I’m a giant in the fight for less privileged people; therefore, I promise to do my best to ensure justice and ensure my people are well represented in the Senate.”

He expressed confidence that with the support of the electorate, the PDP will reclaim Jigawa State in the 2027 general elections.
