Nnadozie nominated for WSL Save of the Season

Super Falcons goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie is in contention for the Barclays Women’s Super League Save of the Season award after her spectacular stop against Liverpool in November 2025 earned her a nomination for the season’s top individual goalkeeping honour, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.

The 25-year-old Brighton shot-stopper produced a breathtaking fingertip save during her side’s one-all draw against Liverpool at St Helens Stadium, stretching at full length to tip a powerful long-range effort from Japan midfielder Fuka Nagano onto the crossbar when a second Liverpool goal looked certain.

Brighton were trailing at the time, and the save proved pivotal, keeping them in the contest before they rescued a point late in the game.

The moment had already won Nnadozie the WSL Save of the Month award for November, where she beat competition from Sabrina D’Angelo, Faye Kirby and Ayaka Yamashita.

She now faces a stiffer challenge for the season accolade, with her rivals including Arsenal’s Daphne van Domselaar, Manchester City’s Ayaka Yamashita, Leicester City’s Janina Leitzig, Elene Lete and Anneke Borbe.

Since joining Brighton from Paris FC ahead of the current campaign, Nnadozie has quickly established herself as one of the club’s most important players. She has kept six clean sheets in her debut WSL season and is also challenging for the league’s Golden Glove award as the campaign enters its final weeks.

Her performances have been central to a sharp improvement in Brighton’s defensive record, with the club conceding fewer goals and putting together their longest unbeaten run in over a decade, a five-match stretch earlier in 2026.

Brighton, who finished ninth last season, have climbed into the top half of the table, with Nnadozie’s ability to organise her defence and produce saves in big moments repeatedly making the difference against the league’s strongest sides.
