NIS guarantees continuous passport processing as production is consolidated

The Nigeria Immigration Service has given assurances to Nigerians that passport services will continue to be accessible nationwide, even as passport printing operations are relocated to the Central Personalisation Centre at the Service Headquarters in Abuja.

This move, the service clarified, is driven by operational considerations and will not impede the processing and issuance of passports at any passport office in Nigeria or at designated Nigerian embassies and consulates abroad.

On Friday, the NIS took to its X handle to explain that only the printing stage of passport production has been centralised, with applicants still able to access passport services at their preferred offices.

The service stated that the relocation of passport production to the Central Personalization Centre in Abuja is a purely operational decision that does not disrupt the processing and issuance of passports at any passport office within the country or at Nigerian Embassies or Consulates.

Passport offices across the country, the NIS confirmed, will continue to function normally, with the change in printing arrangements being the only alteration.

The NIS stated that all passport offices across the country and other designated centres will operate without interruption, with only the printing of passports now being handled at the Service Headquarters in Abuja.

Applicants have been assured that arrangements are in place to ensure that printed passports are delivered to collection points within a reasonable timeframe.

The service has made adequate arrangements to dispatch produced passports to various passport offices within a two-week timeframe, it stated.

Nigerians seeking passport services have been urged by the NIS to continue visiting their preferred passport offices for applications and related processes.
