Nigeria's PEBEC urges joint effort between government and businesses to attract more investment

Zahra Mustapha Audu, Director-General of the Presidential Enabling Business Environment Council, emphasized the need for ongoing interaction with investors and enhanced cooperation between government agencies and the private sector to bolster Nigeria's business landscape.
nHer remarks were made at the third Existing Foreign Direct Investors Roundtable, hosted by PEBEC at the Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa in Abuja, which brought together high-ranking government officials and foreign investors operating in Nigeria to explore ways to enhance the country's investment climate.
nAccording to a statement released by the PEBEC Secretariat on Saturday, the roundtable discussion focused on strengthening the nation's investment environment, with Audu underscoring the council's commitment to maintaining open dialogue with investors and implementing reforms across government institutions.
nAudu highlighted the crucial role existing foreign investors play in Nigeria's economic growth, citing their contributions to job creation, capital investment, technology transfer, and supply chain development, and stressing that they remain vital partners in the country's economic development.
nShe noted that PEBEC's engagement strategy prioritizes listening to investors already operating in the country and addressing the practical challenges that affect their operations, allowing for a deeper understanding of the issues they face.
nIbrahim Hadejia, Deputy Chief of Staff to President Bola Tinubu, representing Vice President Kashim Shettima, Chairman of PEBEC, reaffirmed the Federal Government's dedication to fostering a stable, transparent, and competitive business environment that supports investment, expansion, and long-term economic growth.
nTaiwo Oyedele, Chairman of the Presidential Committee on Fiscal Policy and Tax Reforms, participated virtually, sharing insights on ongoing fiscal and tax reform initiatives aimed at strengthening revenue administration and improving tax certainty for investors.
nThe event was attended by representatives of diplomatic missions from the United States, Russia, France, Colombia, Denmark, and Pakistan, as well as development partners such as the United Nations and the World Bank.
nPEBEC noted that the successful convening of the third FDI roundtable reinforces the council's role as a key platform for coordinating reforms, resolving investor concerns, and strengthening Nigeria's position as a competitive investment destination in Africa.
