In a statement released on Wednesday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesperson, Kimiebi Imomotimi Ebienfa, conveyed the government's condolences to the victims and their families, following the tragic event that took place on Tuesday, July 7, 2026.

Nigeria mourned the loss of at least 21 lives in the disaster, with the statement noting that others were affected amid ongoing rescue operations, and the government's thoughts and prayers were with the families of the deceased, the injured, and all those who had lost loved ones or property.
