In a shocking turn of events, the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency has made a startling discovery, uncovering attempts by drug traffickers to smuggle cocaine out of the country, cleverly concealed inside a traditional wooden mortar and a specially modified backpack, with destinations set for China and Italy.

Details of the discovery were revealed in a statement issued by Femi Babafemi, the agency's Director of Media and Advocacy, which was shared on the social media platform X on Sunday.

According to Babafemi, one of the seized consignments involved cocaine hidden inside a traditional wooden mortar, a common local tool used for pounding yam and grains, which was being shipped to China.

The agency also revealed that another cocaine shipment, destined for Italy, was discovered concealed in the false bottom of a backpack, cleverly hidden among lace materials.

In a warning to the public, Babafemi cautioned people to be vigilant when accepting parcels to deliver, emphasizing the importance of being aware of the contents, as possession is a key factor in determining liability.
