Nigerian Institute of Public Relations Admits 73 Public Relations Officers from Immigration Service into its Ranks

Seventy-three Public Relations Officers of the Nigeria Immigration Service have been formally welcomed into the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations, having successfully completed the Institute's Training and Certification Programme at the Service Headquarters in Abuja.

This milestone is a key component of the service's ongoing efforts to embed strategic communication and elevate the professional standing of its Public Relations cadre, aligning with its broader reform agenda, as highlighted by DCI Akinsola Akinlabi, Service Public Relations Officer, in a post on X on Saturday.

At the induction ceremony, Deputy Comptroller-General FU Nwanneka, representing the Comptroller-General of Immigration, Kemi Nandap, urged the newly inducted officers to adhere to the highest standards of professionalism in their duties, and to proactively manage public perception, counter misinformation, respond effectively to crises, and strengthen public trust.

Nwanneka also expressed appreciation for the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations' partnership with the Nigeria Immigration Service, which aims to deepen professionalism and fortify the practice of Public Relations within the Service.

Dr. Ike Neliaku, President and Chairman of the Council of NIPR, formally inducted the participants into the Institute, emphasizing the importance of upholding ethics, professionalism, and lifelong learning as core values of the Public Relations profession.

In his closing remarks, Deputy Comptroller of Immigration Akinlabi noted that the programme reflects the Comptroller-General's unwavering commitment to capacity building and standardizing Public Relations practice across the Nigeria Immigration Service.

Akinlabi also acknowledged the initiative as a testament to the Service's determination to build a corps of communication professionals equipped to engage the public effectively and support institutional reforms.

The Service Public Relations Officer expressed gratitude to NIPR, the resource persons, and other stakeholders who contributed to the programme's success, and encouraged the officers to apply their newfound knowledge in practical ways, further reinforcing the Service's commitment to effective public engagement.
