Nigeria will overcome terrorist threats, President Tinubu tells armed forces amid Borno violence

President Bola Tinubu has expressed confidence that Nigeria will ultimately triumph over the scourge of terrorism and banditry, despite the recent spate of deadly attacks in Borno State. The President's assurance was made during an interfaith breaking of fast with service chiefs and heads of paramilitary agencies at the State House in Abuja on Friday.

Tinubu took the opportunity to commend the bravery and resilience of those battling terrorism and banditry, stating "I appreciate all the people facing the challenges of terrorism and banditry, we will win, Nigeria will prevail".

In a gesture of solidarity, the President revealed that he had personally reached out to Borno State Governor Prof. Babagana Zulum to offer his condolences and share in the pain of the recent terrorist attacks that resulted in loss of life in the state.

Tinubu extended his sympathy to the Vice President, the entire nation, and the people of Borno, saying "My sympathy goes to the Vice President and the entire country and the people of Borno for the incidents that occurred", and requested that others also offer their support to the Governor.

The President acknowledged the immense sacrifices made by military personnel, who often have to spend extended periods away from their families while fighting against terrorists and bandits across the country.

Tinubu expressed his gratitude to the military personnel on behalf of the nation, recognizing the difficulties they face, including being away from their families and facing attacks from bandits and terrorists.

The President commended the leadership of the armed forces for their tireless efforts in protecting the country from the threats of terrorism and banditry, and assured them that the welfare of military personnel and their families would remain a top priority.

Tinubu acknowledged the challenges faced by military personnel, including a shortage of accommodations, and pledged to address these issues, saying "I understand the shortage of accommodations and everything, we are struggling with it collectively".

The President linked the current security challenges to broader economic reforms, and assured the service chiefs that the sacrifices made by citizens are yielding positive results, stating "We are out of the dark tunnel, we are seeing the daylight and bright light ahead of us".

Tinubu emphasized Nigeria's ability to overcome challenges, saying "Nigeria has always prevailed anytime we are challenged, we have always come together, pulled together, thought and worked and sympathised with one another".

The President also highlighted recent approvals and commitments made to the military, indicating that resources have been allocated to enhance their operational capacity.
