NGX inducts 103 dealing clerks, reinforces market integrity

The Nigerian Exchange Limited has inducted 103 newly qualified Authorised Dealing Clerks as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen professionalism, capacity, and ethical standards across Nigeria’s capital market.
nThe inductees successfully completed the NGX’s 15-day Automated Trading System Brokers’ Certification Programme, which offers comprehensive training on market structure, trading procedures, regulatory compliance requirements, and the overall operational framework of the Exchange.
nSpeaking at the ceremony, the Chief Executive Officer of NGX, Jude Chiemeka, congratulated the new dealing clerks and charged them to uphold the highest standards of integrity, professionalism, and ethical conduct as they begin their careers in the market.
n“Today, we celebrate the outstanding achievements of the candidates who have successfully completed the Nigerian Exchange’s Automated Trading System Brokers’ Certification Programme,” Chiemeka said.
nHe explained that the programme was designed to strengthen the competence, capacity, and character of aspiring market professionals, adding that the inductees had fulfilled all academic and professional requirements while obtaining the necessary regulatory approvals to practise as Authorised Dealing Clerks.
nChiemeka also stressed the importance of market integrity, noting that the ceremonial robes presented to the inductees symbolised their firm’s commitment to the ethical standards of the Chartered Institute of Stockbrokers and the NGX Rulebook. He reiterated the Exchange’s zero-tolerance stance on market infractions and urged the new dealing clerks to maintain high standards of professional conduct at all times.
nAlso speaking, the Doyen of the Market, Rasheed Yusuf, stated that the role of stockbrokers extends far beyond the execution of trades to facilitating capital raising, deepening market liquidity, providing sound investment guidance, and broadening retail and diaspora participation.
n“The Exchange and the capital market constitute a platform to turn around the fortunes of the Nigerian economy, and I encourage you to leverage every channel available to create impact,” Yusuf said.
nHe urged the inductees to remain proactive, continuously deepen their professional knowledge, and keep abreast of emerging developments shaping the global and domestic capital markets.
nIn their separate remarks, the Chairman of the Governing Council of the Association of Securities Dealing Houses of Nigeria, Sehinde Adenagbe, and the President and Chairman of the Governing Council of the Chartered Institute of Stockbrokers, Fiona Ahimie, also charged the new dealing clerks to adhere strictly to market rules and professional standards.
nThey highlighted the significant responsibility resting on market practitioners to strengthen investor confidence and contribute to the growth and development of Nigeria’s capital market.
nThe induction expands the pool of qualified market professionals as the NGX continues its efforts to deepen market participation and build robust institutional capacity supporting the nation’s securities market.
