Next Year: Kwankwaso Holds Talks with Dickson, Aims to Bolster NDC Ties

Vice Presidential candidate of the Nigerian Democratic Congress, Rabiu Kwankwaso, revealed that efforts are currently underway to bolster the unity and preparedness of the newly formed party as the 2027 general elections approach.

Kwankwaso made this disclosure on his verified X handle on Sunday, where he also announced that he had paid a courtesy visit to the National Leader of the party, Seriake Dickson, at his Abuja residence.

This meeting, according to Kwankwaso, was part of ongoing consultations aimed at consolidating the party and positioning it for future electoral contests, with the goal of strengthening the party's unity, resilience, and strategic readiness.

Kwankwaso expressed his confidence in the judicial process, stating that the party remains committed to democratic principles and the rule of law, despite recent challenges that have arisen.

He emphasized that the party's commitment to the rule of law and democratic principles remains unwavering, and that no temporary setback can weaken the spirit of a movement built on hope, justice, equity, and the collective aspirations of the Nigerian people.

Kwankwaso urged party members and supporters to remain calm and focused on the party's objectives, calling on them to stay resolute and focused on their shared mission, with the assurance that together, they will rise above every challenge.

Kwankwaso also added a message of hope, saying "Nigeria will be OK", in an effort to reassure his supporters and the Nigerian people.

Meanwhile, in a post on his official Facebook page on Sunday, Dickson confirmed the meeting with Kwankwaso, stating that they had discussed issues of mutual interest concerning the party.

Dickson also stated that he and other party leaders have resolved to reject alleged one-party democracy, and instead reaffirmed their resolve to stand together in the fight for multi-party democracy.

The NDC leader briefed Kwankwaso on the measures the party is taking to correct and redress the distractions occasioned by the anomalous ruling of the Federal High Court, assuring that they are "on course" to address these challenges.

The Federal High Court sitting in Lokoja, Kogi State, on Friday vacated its December 10, 2025 judgment which compelled the electoral body to register the NDC as a political party, in a ruling delivered in suit No. FHC/LKJ/CS/49/2025.

Justice Isah Dashen held that the earlier judgment was delivered without hearing all necessary parties, making the proceedings constitutionally defective, and this decision followed an application by the Peace Movement Party.
