Ndidi links up with Nigerian national team, finalizing 22-player roster for upcoming matches against Iran and Jordan

Nigeria's Super Eagles camp is now fully assembled with the arrival of captain Wilfred Ndidi at the Bellis Deluxe Hotel in Antalya on Wednesday, as the team prepares for upcoming friendlies in Turkey.

Head Coach Eric Chelle had previously announced a 23-man squad, including captain Ndidi, Alex Iwobi, and Ademola Lookman, for the matches that were relocated from Amman to Antalya due to conflict in the Middle East.

The Super Eagles are set to face Iran on March 27 at 4 p.m., followed by a match against Jordan on March 31 at 8 p.m. in Antalya.

According to Super Eagles Media Officer, Promise Efoghe, Ndidi's arrival brings much-needed leadership and balance to the squad ahead of the friendly match on Friday.

Efoghe expressed pleasure at having the captain join the team, stating that his presence completes the list of invited players and strengthens the group.

However, Efoghe confirmed that Calvin Bassey has withdrawn from the squad due to a back injury sustained during club duties, wishing him a speedy recovery.

The team currently has 22 players in camp, all of whom participated in the first training session, which focused on fitness drills, ball circulation, and small-sided games.

The first training session, held at 4 p.m. local time, was productive, with coaches engaging players in light conditioning, tactical positioning, and ball work to assess their readiness.

The players responded well to the session, showing intensity and commitment as they prepared for the upcoming match against Iran.

Efoghe noted that the technical crew will intensify preparations in subsequent sessions to fine-tune strategies and cohesion, with Thursday's training set to be more intense and tactical.
