Ndah impresses in first outing for Stellenbosch Football Club

Nigerian defender Olisa Ndah made a highly anticipated debut for Stellenbosch FC, putting in a dominant performance as his team edged out Chippa United 2-1 in the South African Premier League.

Ndah's debut marked the end of a nearly month-long wait, during which he was sidelined due to delays in securing a work permit, a frustrating period for the former Orlando Pirates defender.

Deployed in a defensive midfield role, Ndah played for 84 minutes before being substituted by Wonderboy Makhubu, and his stats were impressive, with a 100 per cent success rate in both tackles and clearances.

Stellenbosch FC's 2-1 win over Chippa United propelled them to eighth place in the league table, with 28 points, and Ndah's performance was a key factor in this result.

Head coach Gavin Hunt had previously expressed frustration at the delay in processing Ndah's work permit, questioning why a simple change of employer was taking so long to finalize.

Hunt had noted that Ndah required a new work permit due to the change of employer, saying "Ndah, despite playing for Pirates last, needs a new work permit because of a change of employer, I mean, it’s just a change of employer, so it should be something quick, isn’t it?"

Hunt had also expressed disappointment that Ndah had been available for nearly a month without being able to feature, saying "It’s a bit disappointing because he’s been in close to a month, and he should have played by now."

With the work permit issue finally resolved, Ndah quickly made an impact, and he will now aim to build on his debut display and establish himself in Stellenbosch's plans for the remainder of the season.
