Natasha offers condolences to former Kogi State Deputy Governor Salawu following the loss of his mother

Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, representing Kogi Central Senatorial District, has paid her respects to former Deputy Governor of Kogi State, Philip Salawu, after the passing of his mother, Mrs Alice Salawu, who died on June 9 at the age of 107.

The senator's visit was disclosed by her media aide, Mike Idoko, in a statement issued in Abuja on Monday, highlighting the lawmaker's deep sorrow over the loss of the centenarian matriarch.

Akpoti-Uduaghan extended her condolences to the entire Salawu family and their community, describing the deceased as a woman of uncommon grace, strength, and wisdom, whose longevity and enduring legacy were worthy of celebration despite the grief occasioned by her death.

According to the senator, Mrs Salawu's life was a testament to God's abundant grace and faithfulness, having lived a truly exceptional life defined by faith, sacrifice, resilience, and devotion to her family and community, as evidenced by her remarkable age of 107.

Akpoti-Uduaghan noted that while the loss of a mother remains painful regardless of age, the family should find solace in the fact that Mrs Salawu lived a fulfilled life and left behind a legacy that would continue to inspire future generations.

The lawmaker emphasized that the family should celebrate a life well spent, as Mrs Salawu's legacy lives on through her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and the countless lives she touched through her kindness, wisdom, and exemplary character.

Akpoti-Uduaghan commiserated with the former deputy governor and other members of the bereaved family, praying for divine strength and comfort during the mourning period, and extended her sincere condolences to Dr. Philip Omeiza Salawu, his siblings, and the entire Salawu family.

The senator prayed that Almighty God grants the family comfort, strength, and peace, and that He upholds the family and gives them the fortitude to bear the loss, while also offering prayers for the repose of the deceased's soul.

Philip Salawu served as Deputy Governor of Kogi State between 2003 and 2012 under the administration of former Governor Ibrahim Idris, and remains a prominent political figure in the state.

The condolence visit comes amid an outpouring of tributes from political associates, community leaders, and well-wishers following the death of the revered matriarch.
