NANS hails Tinubu’s youth policies

The National Association of Nigerian Students has praised the administration of President Bola Tinubu for what it described as youth-focused reforms under the Renewed Hope Agenda.

The commendation was contained in a statement issued in Abuja on Friday by the National President of NANS, Oladoja Olushola.

Olushola said, “Tinubu administration had demonstrated commitment to Nigerian youths through policies and programmes aimed at expanding educational access, creating economic opportunities and empowering young people across the country.”

He noted that students and youths remained central to national development and commended the President for prioritising youth inclusion in governance and policy implementation.

“Nigerian youths and students remain critical stakeholders in nation-building,” he said, adding that the association recognised the Federal Government’s efforts to improve opportunities for young Nigerians through the Renewed Hope Agenda.

NANS also appealed to the leadership of the All Progressives Congress to support the emergence of Prof. Ochugudu Ipuele as the party’s candidate for the Cross River North Senatorial District.

The NANS president said the students’ body was aligning with individuals it believed shared similar commitments to youth development and inclusive governance.

He subsequently appealed to Tinubu and the APC leadership to support the emergence of Ipuele as the party’s candidate for Cross River North Senatorial District.

“We therefore use this opportunity to passionately appeal to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the National Chairman of the APC, Prof Natawe and the entire leadership of the ruling party to support and consider the emergence of Prof. Ochugudu Achoda Ipuele as the APC candidate for the Cross River North Senatorial District,” Olushola stated.

According to him, the endorsement of Ipuele was based on principles of equity, justice and fair representation within the district.

The association described Ipuele as a long-standing ally of Nigerian youths and students, citing his involvement in scholarship support, mentorship programmes and youth empowerment initiatives.

NANS further noted that Ipuele, as National Coordinator of Grassroots Advocacy for Tinubu, had mobilised students and youths nationwide in support of the APC and the President’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

Political consultations and lobbying ahead of the 2027 general elections have intensified across the country, with support groups and stakeholders increasingly positioning potential aspirants for key elective offices.

In Cross River State, debates around equitable representation and zoning arrangements have remained prominent within political circles, particularly in the northern senatorial district comprising Bekwarra, Obanliku, Obudu, Ogoja and Yala local government areas.

The intervention by NANS comes amid growing advocacy by youth groups seeking stronger representation and greater participation in Nigeria’s political process.
