My Union... With My Wife Ifunanya Success

Before we talk about your marriage, tell us a bit about yourself
nI’m Ifunanya Success, a gotspel music minister, worship leader, and entrepreneur whose ministry is centred on worship, revival, and a deep passion for God. I’m from Delta State, but was born and raised in Jos, Plateau State. I currently live in Lagos with my family.
nI am a graduate of Business Administration from the University of Lagos. I balance my roles as a businesswoman, mother, and gospel artist. I’m a devoted member of the Praise Association of the Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries International Headquarters, faithfully serving as a music minister.
nWhat are your hobbies?
nCooking, baking, and singing.
nHow long have you been married?
nI have been married for the past 19 years.
nHow does it feel to be a married woman?
nBeing a married woman has been a journey of growth, learning, and grace. It comes with responsibilities, joy, and moments of deep fulfilment.
nHow and where did you meet your husband?
nWe met at a church programme at the MFM Prayer City.
nWhen your relationship started, did you imagine it would eventually lead to marriage?
nYes. It was purely based on prayer, and we were both led by the Spirit of God into the relationship.
nWhat was your reaction the day he proposed?
nI was very excited.
nWas there any special activity or memorable event surrounding the proposal?
nNot really, as we were not living in the same state at the time.
nWere your parents supportive of his proposal?
nYes. They were fully supportive, as they had prayed and received confirmation before the proposal came.
nHow many children has God blessed your marriage with?
nWe are blessed with three wonderful children; two boys and one girl.
nWhat would you consider the most memorable moment you have shared with your husband?
nGetting through a difficult period together and coming out of it stronger and closer.
nWhat advice would you give to younger generations seeking a successful and healthy marriage?
nFor younger generations, I would encourage them to see marriage less as “finding the perfect person” and more as building the character, patience, and skills needed for a lasting partnership.
nAttraction and excitement matter, but long-term marriages depend heavily on consistent values and intentional habits that outlive emotions.
nMarriage should not be viewed as an escape from loneliness or pressure because it often magnifies unresolved personal patterns rather than erasing them.
nWhat is your view on the growing number of family breakups in the country?
nThe rise in family breakups is a serious concern, but it should not be reduced to a simple narrative of “loss of values.” In most cases, family breakdown results from multiple pressures coming together over time rather than from a single cause.
nNot every separation is a failure, especially in situations involving violence, abuse, or severe conflict. However, when relationships end because of preventable issues such as poor communication, lack of preparation for marriage, financial stress, or unresolved conflict, it highlights the need for better education, counselling, and support systems for families.
