Could you tell us more about yourself?

I’m Prophet Joseph Akinade. I’m a native of Ibadan, and my parents were also in the clergy. I was born on Thursday, May 8, 1969. I attended IMG School, Ode Aje, Ibadan, for my primary education, then Renascent High School, Ibadan, and later The Polytechnic, Ibadan, where I studied Music. I also manage my music, and my wife does too.

Since when have you been married?

I got married on January 11, 2003. That is about 23 years ago.

Where and how did you meet your wife?

n

We met when she came to minister at our church in 1999. My wife is also a gospel minister.

n

How did she feel when you proposed to her?

n

She was so happy because I was also a gospel musician when we met. She used to come and watch my shows whenever she was less busy.

Were you anticipating marriage when you met her?

n

We didn’t know the relationship would work out like this because both of us were busy. But we thank God that everything worked out for our good.

How did your parents react when you proposed to her?

n

Her parents were very happy when they heard, but my own parents didn’t believe I could marry her because we do the same work.

Young people are not as ready to get married as they used to be because of the situation in the country. Some marry the wrong person because they just want to get married by all means. Maybe because of their age, they do not bother to pray and seek God’s direction about the person they want to marry. In all things, they need to learn to understand their spouse and pray to God for guidance.
