Mutfwang, former state leaders convene to address Plateau's safety concerns

Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang recently convened a gathering with former state governors to brainstorm strategies for tackling the security challenges plaguing Plateau, with the aim of finding lasting solutions.

The meeting took place at the Government House in Rayfield, Jos, and was attended by a host of former governors, including Joshua Dariye, Fidelis Tapgun, Jonah Jang, and Simon Lalong, among others.

Confirming the meeting, former governor Fidelis Tapgun acknowledged that a fruitful discussion was held with Governor Mutfwang, along with other former governors who were in attendance.

In a statement posted on his verified Facebook page, Governor Mutfwang disclosed that he had convened a strategic meeting with distinguished leaders and former governors of Plateau State on Tuesday at the Government House in Little Rayfield, Jos.

The meeting delved into an in-depth examination of matters pertaining to the well-being, welfare, progress, and overall prosperity of the people of Plateau State, with a particular focus on the prevailing security situation.

The high-level engagement entailed a critical review of the recent violent attacks in rural communities across the state, with discussions centered on fostering sustainable peace, strengthening unity, and promoting harmonious coexistence among all residents.

The collective resolve of the leaders was to pursue justice for all and establish robust frameworks that reflect the enduring courage, discipline, hospitality, and patriotism of the Plateau people within the Nigerian project.

Emphasis was also placed on rebuilding fractured relationships and restoring trust, with the ultimate goal of reinforcing Plateau State's longstanding identity as the Home of Peace and Prosperity.

The meeting was prompted by a series of attacks in the state, resulting in the loss of many lives and the displacement of several residents, including a devastating incident in late March where at least 28 people were killed in a community in Angwan Rukuba, Jos North Local Government Area.

President Bola Tinubu, who visited the state and met with leaders and victims of the attacks, had urged the leaders to convene and recommend solutions to the crisis, and the meeting with former governors is one of the many steps being taken by Governor Mutfwang to restore peace in the state.
