Monarchs and local government heads in Oyo praise Makinde for infrastructure development initiatives

Traditional rulers, local government chairmen, and residents of Oyo East and Oyo West Local Government Areas in Oyo State have expressed their gratitude to Governor Seyi Makinde for his administration's continued investment in road infrastructure, following a recent inspection of newly completed and ongoing road projects in the two councils.

This inspection tour was conducted under the leadership of Oyo East Local Government Chairman, Oluokun Olusola, and his counterpart from Oyo West, Akeem Olukitibi, who were accompanied by several traditional rulers.

Notable traditional rulers who participated in the inspection include the Oloodu of Ojongbodu, Oba Olaniyi Adegboye; the Onisamu of Samu, Oba Lamidi Oyewale Afonja Mukaila; the Alajagba of Oyo, Oba Samuel Odurinde; the Ona-Isokun of Oyo; the Elepe of Iseke, Oba Olufemi Oyekan; the Onimileke of Imileke, Oyo, Oba Fakayode Alowonle; the Alaaguo of Aguoland, Oba David Oyediran; the Onigbudugbu of Gbudugbu, Oyo, Oba Salawu Oyeniran; and the Alapa-Ara of Apa-Ara, Oba Tijani Ajeigbe.

The delegation inspected a newly completed asphalt-tarred road that connects Iseke, Ladindin, Ojongbodu, and Isokun, a significant infrastructure project spanning both Oyo East and Oyo West Local Government Areas.

This project covers a total distance of four kilometres, with 3.2 kilometres completed in Oyo East and 0.8 kilometres in Oyo West.

After the inspection, Oyo West Local Government Chairman, Akeem Olukitibi, addressed journalists in Oyo town, praising Governor Makinde for prioritising road infrastructure across the state, which has improved transportation, enhanced accessibility, and stimulated economic activities in several communities.

Olukitibi also acknowledged the contributions of former Speaker of the state House of Assembly, Monsurat Sunmonu, describing her support as instrumental to the approval and successful execution of the road projects.

Oyo East Local Government Chairman, Olusola, expressed his appreciation to Governor Makinde for the numerous developmental projects executed in the council areas, citing this as a demonstration of the administration's commitment to improving the welfare of the people.

Key projects delivered by the state government, according to Olusola, include the Apaara–Oke Apo Road, Molaba–Balogun Road, Olugbon–Mobolaje Road, Oba Adeyemi Road, and the Ajagba–Ogeese Road, as well as the Kosobo Road, all of which have significantly improved connectivity, facilitated commerce, and enhanced socio-economic development in the benefiting communities.

The Chairman commended former Speaker Monsurat Sunmonu for her unwavering support towards the successful delivery of the projects, describing her as a worthy ambassador and representative of the ancient city.

On behalf of the traditional rulers, the Onisamu of Samu, Oba Lamidi Oyeniyi, described Governor Makinde as a visionary and people-centred leader whose administration has continued to transform communities through strategic infrastructure development.

Oba Lamidi Oyeniyi also applauded Monsurat Sunmonu for her commitment to the development of Oyo Federal Constituency.

The Elepe of Iseke and the Alaaguo of Aguoland expressed satisfaction with the quality of the completed roads, stating that the projects would ease movement, promote trade, and accelerate economic growth across the affected communities.

Project Engineer Adewara Muyiwa, speaking on behalf of the contractor Quickborn Nigeria Limited, disclosed that construction work had progressed according to schedule, confirming the completion of the project and assuring residents that the remaining section would be completed in line with the approved specifications.
