The Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, Bernard Doro, has no intention of contesting the Plateau North Senatorial seat or resigning from his position ahead of the 2027 general election, his Senior Special Assistant (Special Duties), Jasper Adeleye, has said.

Adeleye, in a statement on Wednesday, said the minister remained focused on his current national assignment and had no plans to seek elective office.

He described claims that Doro planned to resign to contest the senatorial election as baseless, urging the public to disregard the speculations.

According to him, the minister is committed to delivering on the mandate given to him by President Bola Tinubu, particularly in advancing the Renewed Hope Agenda aimed at reducing poverty and supporting vulnerable Nigerians.

Adeleye added that the minister remained grateful for the opportunity to serve and would continue to focus on implementing the programmes of the ministry.

“He is working assiduously to bridge the poverty gap and provide support for vulnerable persons across the country.

“We urge the media and the general public to ignore the rumours about any purported resignation or plan to run for the Senate by Dr Bernard Doro,” he stated.
