Mbah recruits 6,580 educators and support staff for high-tech educational institutions

The Governor of Enugu State, Peter Mbah, has given the green light for the recruitment of 6,580 suitably qualified individuals to fill various positions in the state's public primary and junior secondary schools, with a particular emphasis on the 267 Smart Green Schools currently being developed.

Despite the fact that many of these schools are still in the construction phase, the state government has moved forward with the recruitment process, as announced in a job vacancy advertisement released by Hyginus Banko, the Executive Chairman of the Enugu State Universal Basic Education Board.

A detailed breakdown of the available positions reveals that the board is seeking to recruit 4,698 core subject teachers in subjects such as Mathematics, English Language, Basic Science, Basic Technology, ICT, French, Igbo Language, and History.

Additionally, the board is looking to fill other roles, including 520 Digital Librarians, 380 Experiential Learning Innovators, 267 Guidance and Counsellors, 267 ICT Staff, 267 Laboratory Attendants, 136 Account Officers, and 45 Technicians.

In order to be eligible for teaching positions, applicants must possess a Bachelor's Degree in Education or a Higher National Diploma with a Postgraduate Diploma in Education, or a Nigeria Certificate in Education in the relevant subject areas.

Furthermore, teaching applicants are required to register or provide proof of registration with the Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria, a mandatory requirement for all those applying for teaching roles.

The requirements for non-teaching positions vary widely, ranging from degrees in specialized fields such as Library and Information Science, STEM, and Psychology, to Ordinary National Diploma, Trade Test Certificates, or SSCE/WASSCE for positions like Laboratory Attendants, Technicians, and ICT staff.

The board has stressed that candidates applying with a Degree or Higher National Diploma must provide a valid NYSC discharge or exemption certificate, and that practical proficiency in Information and Communication Technology tools is essential for all applicants, regardless of the position they are applying for.

According to the notice, interested and qualified candidates are required to submit a formal application letter, accompanied by a detailed curriculum vitae, copies of credentials, birth certificate or sworn affidavit of age, and valid contact information.

The board has emphasized that the application process is completely free of charge, and that the deadline for submissions is Friday, August 14, 2026.
