Ahmed Sanusi, the newly appointed Commissioner of Police for the Federal Capital Territory Command, vowed on Wednesday to eradicate crime in Abuja during his tenure, leveraging proactive and intelligence-driven policing strategies to root out criminal elements.

Sanusi made this pledge during his inaugural press briefing, following his formal assumption of duty as the FCT's new Commissioner of Police, where he emphasized that his command would prioritize professionalism, relentlessness, and crime prevention.

He asserted that his track record demonstrates his ability to suppress crime, stating, "As many who are familiar with my professional approach will attest, crime does not thrive where I serve.

Sanusi reiterated that under his leadership, the command would adopt a proactive and intelligence-driven approach, leaving no stone unturned in identifying, pursuing, and bringing criminals to justice, with the ultimate goal of preventing crime before it occurs.

He warned criminals to vacate the territory or face the full force of the law, cautioning them that the Federal Capital Territory would no longer serve as a safe haven for illicit activities.

Sanusi also admonished officers and men within the command to maintain discipline and adhere to professional standards, emphasizing the importance of civility when interacting with the public.

He urged residents to collaborate with the police by providing timely information, acknowledging that security is a collective responsibility that requires the command to work in tandem with the community.

Sanusi expressed gratitude to the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Disu, for his appointment and pledged to build upon the achievements of his predecessor while bolstering the security framework of the Federal Capital Territory.

The Inspector-General of Police recently ordered the redeployment of senior officers to key positions across the Nigeria Police Force, aiming to enhance operational efficiency, leadership capacity, and service delivery nationwide.

This redeployment, announced on Tuesday by the Force spokesman, DCP Anthony Placid, included the appointments of CP Ahmed Sanusi to the Federal Capital Territory Command, CP Olatunji Fatai to Lagos State Command, CP Morkwap Dongshal to Taraba State Command, CP Ahmed Bello to Zamfara State Command, CP Umar Fagge to Katsina State Command, and CP Hayatu Shaffa Hassan to Sokoto State Command.
