Law enforcement launches internal investigation into cop caught on camera wrestling on the ground in popular Ekiti clip

The Nigeria Police Force has initiated disciplinary proceedings against a sergeant who was caught on camera in a viral video that has been circulating on social media in Ekiti State, with the footage showing the officer acting erratically while wearing a camouflage uniform.
nThe sergeant in question is attached to the Ikole-Ekiti Divisional Police Headquarters, and the video of his bizarre behavior has sparked a swift response from the police, with the Force Public Relations Officer, Anthony Okon, issuing a statement on Sunday to address the incident.
nA statement from the police revealed that the officer has been taken into custody, with the Force taking decisive action in response to the video, which shows the sergeant displaying conduct that is grossly inconsistent with the standards of the police force.
nThe Ekiti State Police Command quickly identified the officer and took him into custody to face disciplinary action, with the Commissioner of Police in Ekiti State, Falade Adegoroye Michael, ordering a comprehensive psychological and medical evaluation of the sergeant before formal disciplinary procedures can commence.
nThis evaluation is aimed at determining whether there are any underlying health concerns that may have contributed to the officer's behavior, with the police emphasizing that the assessment is a necessary step in addressing both the conduct violation and any potential health issues.
nThe Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, has also weighed in on the incident, condemning the sergeant's conduct as a gross deviation from the discipline and professionalism expected of police officers, with the Force maintaining a zero-tolerance policy toward substance abuse and behavior that undermines the integrity of the uniform.
nThe video, which started trending on Saturday, shows the police officer acting erratically, holding and embracing a bench, and rolling on the floor, drawing the attention of passersby and residents who gathered at the scene.
