Law enforcement frees abducted person, apprehends alleged kidnapper in Kwara

A daring rescue operation by police operatives in Kwara State has resulted in the safe recovery of 26-year-old Shekinat Mukaila, who was kidnapped during a brazen attack on Wande Community in the Ora Kingdom of Ifelodun Local Government Area, with a suspected collaborator also apprehended in connection with the crime.

The rescue was announced on Friday by the state Commissioner of Police, Ojo Adekimi, in Ilorin, as part of a series of intelligence-driven operations aimed at combating crime in the state.

The abduction took place on July 15, when armed hoodlums stormed the community, with Shekinat's father, the Baale of Wande, suffering gunshot injuries while trying to resist the attackers, according to Commissioner Adekimi.

Adekimi revealed that the police command sprang into action upon receiving a distress report of the kidnapping, swiftly deploying operatives to the community to secure the area, recover critical evidence, and initiate a thorough investigation.

The injured traditional ruler was rushed to the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital for medical attention and has since been discharged, marking a positive development in the case.

Following the receipt of the distress report, the command activated its tactical and intelligence assets, with operatives rapidly deployed to the scene to secure the area and launch a comprehensive investigation.

The investigation yielded significant breakthroughs, including the arrest of Aliyu Mohammed, who allegedly facilitated the activities of the kidnappers, as well as the identification and analysis of the communication channels used by the criminal syndicate during ransom negotiations.

Intelligence generated from the investigation enabled security operatives to intensify targeted operations, ultimately leading to the successful rescue of the abducted woman without injuries, while efforts are ongoing to apprehend other members of the syndicate still at large.
