Law enforcement detains 146 individuals in Ogun

Ogun State Police Command has arrested 146 suspects during a coordinated security operation in Sagamu as part of its efforts to curb crime and maintain public order.

The arrests were carried out under a special raid codenamed “Operation Keep Sagamu Safe,” led by the Sagamu Area Command in collaboration with other security agencies and community stakeholders.

According to a statement on Tuesday by the Ogun Police Public Relations Officer, Oluseyi Babaseyi, the operation followed a series of engagements with traditional rulers, the Sagamu Local Government Council, and heads of security agencies to strengthen local security architecture.

“The intelligence-led operation, conducted in the early hours of April 13, 2026, targeted identified flashpoints within Sagamu, where suspected criminal elements had been observed to pose threats to public peace and safety,” the statement partly read.

The command noted that the operation was designed to forestall any breakdown of law and order and reinforce safety across the area.

It added that the exercise was jointly executed with personnel of the military, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, the Amotekun Corps, the Ogun State Community Security (So-Safe) Corps, and the Vigilante Group of Nigeria.

The command disclosed that all suspects are currently undergoing screening to determine their level of involvement in criminal activities.

“Those found culpable will be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Abeokuta, for discreet investigation and necessary legal action,” the statement added.

The Commissioner of Police, Bode Ojajuni, commended the collaboration among security agencies, describing it as a demonstration of professionalism and operational discipline.

He also assured residents of the command’s commitment to intelligence-led policing and sustained efforts to ensure peace and security across the state.

The police urged members of the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities through its emergency lines.
