Law enforcement apprehends quartet of alleged thieves in Ekiti

The Ekiti State Police Command has apprehended four individuals suspected of burglary at a known criminal hideout in Ado Ekiti, the state's capital city, as part of its ongoing efforts to combat crime.

According to Sunday Abutu, the command's Public Relations Officer, the suspects were taken into custody during a targeted operation at the hideout, located in the Omisanjana area of Ado Ekiti, on Sunday.

A statement released by Abutu in Ado Ekiti on Monday revealed that a substantial quantity of items believed to be stolen goods was recovered from the premises, highlighting the success of the intelligence-led raid.

The operation resulted in the arrest of four suspects, identified as Abdurazak Suleiman, 39, John Okori, 27, Francis Okori, 32, and Kehinde Alabi, 30, all of whom reside in the Omisanjana area of Ado Ekiti.

A thorough search of the premises yielded a wide range of items suspected to have been stolen from various shops, including an assortment of perfumes, bathing soaps, alcoholic beverages, food items, body care products, cotton materials, clothing, a school bag, a 3kg gas cylinder, and a sledgehammer believed to have been used in shop-breaking operations.

Preliminary investigations indicated that the suspects shared the same apartment, and further intelligence gathered at the scene linked them to a recent burglary at a shop located in Ekute Quarters, Ado Ekiti, near the Water Works construction site, where some of the suspects had reportedly worked as labourers.

The police are currently working to locate the owner of the burgled shop and other potential victims to facilitate the identification and recovery of their stolen property, while a comprehensive investigation is underway to determine the full extent of the suspects' involvement in burglary and other criminal activities.

The Commissioner of Police, Joseph Eribo Falade, has reaffirmed the command's commitment to maintaining an intelligence-led approach to policing, aimed at protecting the lives and property of residents across the state.

Falade urged residents to continue providing timely and credible information to the authorities, assuring them that all information received would be treated with the utmost confidentiality.
