Law enforcement apprehends clergyman, several others in Oyo for alleged possession of human remains

A stop-and-search operation by the Oyo State Police Command in Ibadan has led to the arrest of three men accused of possessing and selling suspected human parts.

The operation, which took place along the Adekile area of Agugu, resulted in the interception of an unregistered Bajaj Boxer motorcycle, where a patrol team discovered a package containing suspected human parts.

A statement issued on Tuesday, signed by Police Public Relations Officer Ayanlade Olayinka, revealed that the search of the pillion rider led to the recovery of a package containing flesh suspected to be human parts, specifically an intestine.

The pillion rider, identified as Oyategbe Joseph, a male from Ibadan, was apprehended on the spot and subsequently interrogated, during which he confessed to obtaining the suspected human parts from an unknown individual in the Oritaperin area.

Oyategbe Joseph also admitted to selling the items to two persons, Alfa Onaolapo Taiwo, a 46-year-old male, and Pastor Ayodele Taiwo, a 55-year-old male.

Acting on this information, the Command promptly apprehended Alfa Onaolapo Taiwo and Pastor Ayodele Taiwo, bringing them to the station for further interrogation, where both suspects confessed to purchasing the suspected human parts from Oyategbe Joseph.

The Commissioner of Police, Oyo State Command, has ordered the case to be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for a thorough and discreet investigation, with all suspects to be charged to court upon completion of inquiries.

The three suspects, Oyategbe Joseph, Alfa Onaolapo Taiwo, and Pastor Ayodele Taiwo, remain in police custody as the investigation continues.

The Oyo State Police Command is urging the public to remain vigilant and report any information regarding the possession or sale of human parts to the nearest police station, emphasizing the importance of community cooperation in maintaining law and order.
