Law enforcement apprehends alleged kidnapper in Abia, frees half a dozen minors

A significant breakthrough has been achieved by the Abia State Police Command with the arrest of Nnamdi Lazarus, a 51-year-old suspect implicated in conspiracy and child trafficking, as well as the rescue of six abducted children.

According to DSP Maureen Chinaka, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Nnamdi Lazarus, who hails from Mbano in Imo State, was taken into custody by operatives of the Violent Crime Response Unit, Aba North, acting on credible intelligence.

The suspect, currently residing in Uratta Aba, Abia State, was found to be harbouring and keeping the six children, who have since been safely reunited with their families.

An investigation is ongoing to identify and apprehend other members of the child trafficking syndicate, while Nnamdi Lazarus will be charged to court once the investigation is concluded.

The Abia State Police Command has reaffirmed its commitment to protecting lives and property through intelligence-led policing, utilizing this opportunity to reassure the public.
