Law enforcement apprehends alleged gunman, seizes weapons in Rivers

The Rivers State Police Command has announced the arrest of Austine Emenike, also known as "Oyibo," a suspected armed robber, along with the recovery of firearms and ammunition, in an operation conducted in Aluu, Ikwerre Local Government Area.

The Police Public Relations Officer, Blessing Agabe, released a statement in Port Harcourt on Monday, disclosing that the suspect's arrest was carried out in accordance with the directives of the Commissioner of Police, Olugbenga Adepoju.

The operation, which resulted in the recovery of multiple firearms and live ammunition, marks another major achievement in the command's ongoing campaign against violent crime, according to Agabe.

Among the items recovered from the suspect are one locally made pistol, four single-barrel guns, and five live cartridges, highlighting the potential threat posed by the suspect.

Preliminary investigations have established links between the suspect and a broader criminal network, prompting further inquiries to identify and apprehend other gang members.
