Law enforcement apprehends 26 individuals in Katsina crackdown on security threats

The Katsina State Police Command has taken 26 suspected social miscreants into custody following a targeted operation that utilized intelligence to identify and dismantle criminal hideouts across Katsina metropolis, all within the span of a single late-night operation.

This operation was carried out in the early hours of April 14, 2026, and was spearheaded by the Special Weapons and Tactics unit, in a bid to restore order to the metropolis.

A statement released by the Command's spokesperson, DSP Abubakar Sadiq, on Friday, revealed that the raid specifically focused on addressing the issues plaguing identified black spots notorious for their high levels of criminal activity.

According to the statement, the operation was a deliberate effort to tackle the menace of social miscreants that have been terrorizing the Katsina Metropolis, and it resulted in the arrest of 26 suspected social miscreants during the intelligence-led operation on April 14th, 2026, at about 0200 hrs.

The officer-in-charge of SWAT led a team of operatives on a coordinated operation across identified criminal hideouts and black spots within the metropolis, which led to the arrest of twenty-six suspects involved in various criminal activities.

Upon arresting the suspects, the police recovered a range of exhibits, including live ammunition, a sword, two cutlasses, a sharp knife, sticks, a saw, six suspected stolen mobile phones, dry leaves suspected to be Indian hemp, 500 pieces of Exol tablets, and a pair of military camouflage shirts.

All suspects were subsequently charged in court upon the conclusion of the investigation, marking a significant step in the pursuit of justice.

The Commissioner of Police, Katsina State Command, CP Ali Umar Fage, psc(+), mnips, commended the operatives for their professionalism and dedication to their duties, and reiterated the Command's commitment to sustaining the ongoing efforts against all forms of criminality in the State.
