LASU announces opening of 2026/2027 NELFUND loan application

The Lagos State University has announced the commencement of the 2026/2027 student loan application by the Nigerian Education Loan Fund.

The university made this known in a statement posted on its X handle on Sunday.

It urged interested and eligible students to take advantage of the Federal Government intervention and complete their applications before the December 31, 2026 deadline.

According to the statement, the “application portal opened on Wednesday, September 23, 2026, while applications will close on Thursday, December 31, 2026.”

LASU said applicants must be duly registered students of the university and possess valid Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board registration numbers, National Identification Numbers and Bank Verification Numbers.

The university also said applicants must ensure that their matriculation numbers, departments and other institutional records are correctly uploaded and updated on the university portal.

It added that students must ensure that their JAMB details were correctly verified before applying.

“Students are strongly advised to verify and update their institutional and JAMB records before proceeding with their applications on the NELFund portal,” the statement said.

It said the verification was necessary to prevent disqualification or delays arising from discrepancies or data mismatches.

n

“Students who encounter challenges with the verification or updating of their records are advised to visit the Directorate of ICT or Special Interventions for prompt assistance,” LASU said.

The university urged all eligible students to apply within the stipulated deadline.
