Lamido claims he was never asked to join APC by Tinubu

Sule Lamido, the former Governor of Jigawa State, has come out to refute claims that he was invited to join the All Progressives Congress by President Bola Tinubu or any other high-ranking member of the party.

Lamido described reports of him rejecting an invitation from Tinubu to join the APC as nothing more than speculation, questioning when such an invitation was supposedly extended to him.

He expressed his skepticism about the reports, asking if the President had sent someone to invite him, and stating that he was hearing about the invitation for the first time.

In an interview at his residence during the Sallah celebrations, Lamido spoke to Tribune Online about the rumors surrounding his potential defection to the African Democratic Congress, which he dismissed as baseless.

He attributed the rumors to the creative liberties taken by social media content creators, saying that in the current era of social media, it is easy for people to fabricate stories from the comfort of their own homes.

Lamido expressed his willingness to meet with President Tinubu, but made it clear that such a meeting would be driven by a desire to serve the national interest rather than partisan considerations.

As a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, Lamido remains open to dialogue that could contribute to the country's progress, and believes that any meeting with the President should focus on national development and unity.

He reiterated his willingness to meet with the President, asking when such a meeting could take place, and emphasizing that the focus should be on addressing Nigeria's challenges and fostering national cohesion.

Lamido also reflected on the recent elections, urging Nigerians to consider the consequences of their electoral choices, and noting that the outcome of the elections is a direct result of the decisions made by the electorate.

He advised Nigerians to have voted with integrity and conscience, saying that the leadership the country has is a direct result of the choices made by the people.

Lamido took the opportunity to felicitate with Muslim faithful on the occasion of Eid al-Fitr, calling for sustained prayers for peace, unity, and stability in the country.
