Lagos Police Rescue Four Abducted Kids, Return Them to Their Families

The Lagos State Police Command successfully rescued four kidnapped children and reunited them with their families after a patrol intervention at Alafia Bus Terminal, Coker-Orile, Lagos, and has since launched a manhunt for a suspect who escaped during the operation.

A statement issued on Sunday by the state police public relations officer, SP Abimbola Adebisi, disclosed that the incident occurred on May 8, 2026, at approximately 11:40pm, during a routine patrol of the area.

According to the statement, police operatives observed four children in the company of an unidentified woman who was about to board a luxurious bus heading outside Lagos State on May 8, 2026, at about 11:40pm, while on routine patrol around Alafia Bus Terminal, Coker-Orile.

The suspected trafficker abandoned the children and fled the scene to an unknown destination upon sighting the police patrol team, as stated in the report.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the children were allegedly kidnapped from the Ijesha-Tedo area of Lagos State and were being moved out of the state at night when the operation was intercepted, Adebisi said.

The children were immediately taken into protective custody while efforts commenced to trace their families, and their parents were subsequently contacted, resulting in the safe reunion of the four children with them.

An investigation is ongoing to arrest the fleeing suspect and identify others connected to the incident, according to the police.

The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Tijani Fatai, commended the operatives for their prompt response and professionalism in handling the situation.

CP Tijani Fatai also urged parents and guardians to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious movements or activities involving children to the nearest police station.
