Lagos housing ministry honours seven officers for outstanding service

The Lagos State Ministry of Housing has honoured seven officers for their exemplary performance, diligence and contributions to effective service delivery during the first and second quarters of 2026.

In a post obtained from the state’s X handle on Saturday, in his goodwill message, the Permanent Secretary, Lagos State Ministry of Housing, Engr. Abdulhafis Toriola, congratulated the awardees and urged them to sustain their high standards of performance.

He also encouraged other members of staff to draw inspiration from the honourees and contribute meaningfully to the ministry’s efforts to reduce the housing deficit in Lagos State.

Toriola stressed the importance of sustained commitment and responsibility, stating, “The reward for hard work is more work.”

He said recognition for excellent performance should serve not only as an honour but also as encouragement for the recipients to take on greater responsibilities and continue contributing to the ministry’s success.

The Permanent Secretary also highlighted the importance of vision in leadership.

“What separates a leader from the followers is the Vision,” he said, urging staff to develop a clear sense of purpose, demonstrate initiative and emulate colleagues who have distinguished themselves through excellent service.

Earlier, the Chairman of the Welfare Committee, Mrs Oluwakemi Kankafo, said the event provided an opportunity to recognise officers whose dedication, professionalism and quality of service had contributed positively to the ministry’s mandate.

She said the awardees were assessed based on their diligence, professionalism and reliability in handling, processing and coordinating official duties.

According to Kankafo, attention to detail, respect for official procedures, effective collaboration, dependability, willingness to take on additional responsibilities and a positive work ethic were among the criteria considered.

The seven officers recognised for the first and second quarters are Mr Jamiu Abatan, Chief Administrative and Human Resource Officer, GL 14; Mrs Oyetunji Opeyemi Nusirat, Principal Finance and Accounts Officer, GL 12; and Mr Usman Akinpelu, Senior Lands Officer, Grade Level 10.

Others are Mr Adegite Adewunmi James, Chief Clerical Officer, GL 07; Mr Adeleke Adeniyi Benjamin, Chief Driver Mechanic, GL 07; Mrs Funmi Okuribido, Chief Clerical Officer, Grade Level 7; and Mrs Akinbola Iyeyemi Temidayo, Chief Clerical Officer, Grade Level 7.

The ministry said the recognition underscored its commitment to professionalism, accountability and service excellence, while promoting a workplace culture in which outstanding contributions are acknowledged and used as examples for others to emulate.
