Kwara State's APC chapter mobilizes backing for Tinubu's presidential bid in 2027

The All Progressives Congress in Kwara State launched its mobilisation efforts for the 2027 general elections on Sunday with a statewide rally, throwing its weight behind President Bola Tinubu's re-election bid and celebrating its candidates who emerged from the party's recently concluded primaries.

The rally, organised by Kwara Progressives under the banner "Kwara Ndupe (Kwara is Grateful)," saw a large turnout of party leaders, candidates, and supporters, who marched through major streets of Ilorin, the state capital.

According to the organisers, the event served as both a celebration of the party's successful primaries and an early mobilisation drive for the 2027 general elections, setting the tone for the party's campaign.

Abdulateef Alakawa, the State Coordinator of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors, addressed journalists during the rally, stating that the event was held to express gratitude to God for the peaceful conduct of the primaries, which produced candidates for various elective offices across the state through the direct primary election process.

Alakawa noted that the exercise reflected the wishes of party members and reaffirmed the loyalty of the Kwara APC to Tinubu and Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, emphasizing that the people's voices had been heard through the direct primary elections.

"Power belongs to the people, and the people have spoken through the direct primary elections," Alakawa said, adding that the party was grateful for the peaceful and successful primaries, which saw its candidates emerge across various positions.

The APC chieftain downplayed concerns that the outcome of the primaries could create divisions within the party, revealing that the leadership had already established reconciliation mechanisms to bring all stakeholders together ahead of the 2027 polls.

"In every democratic process, there will be winners and others who may not emerge," he said, stressing that the APC had no losers, as the party had constituted a reconciliation committee to resolve all issues.

Ahmad Muhammad, the APC candidate for Kwara North Senatorial District, commended the decision to zone the party's governorship ticket to Kwara North, describing it as a demonstration of fairness and inclusiveness, and thanked Tinubu, AbdulRazaq, and party members for their confidence in him.

Muhammad expressed confidence that the APC would retain power in the state in the next general elections, citing the party's widespread support across Kwara, and said the rally demonstrated the people's confidence in the leadership of Governor AbdulRazaq and the APC.

Olalekan Adewoye, the APC candidate for Kwara South Senatorial District, thanked Tinubu, AbdulRazaq, and other party leaders for the opportunity to represent the party, describing the APC as a united family committed to its collective success.

Adewoye attributed his emergence as a candidate to the support of the party leadership, saying, "I am grateful to God and to the leadership of our party for the confidence reposed in me."

Oba Magaji Abdulkadri, the Majority Leader of the Kwara State House of Assembly, said the large turnout at the rally reflected the unity and growing strength of the APC in the state, adding, "We are very happy, as you can see, everyone is in a joyous mood."

Abdulkadri dismissed concerns about the opposition's chances in the state, expressing confidence that the APC would maintain its dominance in the 2027 elections, and said, "The future in Kwara State is APC from top to bottom, by the grace of Allah."
