Kwara State Sees Capture of Alleged Outlaws, Gun Seizure by NSCDC Officials

An intelligence-driven operation conducted by the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps in the Saminaka community, Patigi Local Government Area of Kwara State, resulted in the arrest of two suspected bandits, bringing a measure of relief to the area.

The suspects, identified as Abubakar Jubril, 28, and Mohammed Abubakar, 26, were taken into custody on Tuesday, March 3, 2026, following a period of sustained surveillance by operatives of the command, which ultimately led to their apprehension.

A statement from the command revealed that the suspects were among three suspicious individuals spotted in a volatile area, with two being arrested and the third suspect managing to escape and currently remaining at large.

Efforts are reportedly ongoing to ensure the prompt arrest of the fleeing suspect, with the command working diligently to track down the individual and bring them to justice.

Among the items recovered from the suspects were a pistol, specifically a US-made model with the serial number 7886, as well as a mobile phone, drugs suspected to be tramadol, and cigarettes, which were all seized during the operation.

On Friday, March 6, 2026, the Kwara State Commandant of the corps, Bala Bodinga, paraded the suspects and reaffirmed the command's commitment to sustaining operations aimed at tackling criminal activities and safeguarding lives and property across the state.

Commandant Bodinga issued a warning to individuals involved in criminal activities, urging them to desist from such actions or face the full weight of the law, emphasizing that the command would leave no stone unturned to apprehend offenders and ensure the security of residents throughout the state.

The commandant also appealed to members of the public to remain vigilant and provide credible information that would aid security agencies in combating crime and maintaining peace across the state, highlighting the importance of community involvement in crime prevention.

According to the Public Relations Officer of the command, ASC Ayoola Michael, the suspects will be charged in court upon completion of investigations or transferred to the appropriate security agency for further investigation, pending the outcome of the ongoing inquiries.
