Kwara State Governor Vows to Provide Official Cars to New Chief Imam

Kwara State Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq has committed to providing brand-new official vehicles to Sheikh Muhammad Bashir Dasuki Imam Fulani, the newly appointed Chief Imam of Ilorin Emirate, as a gesture of support and goodwill.

This pledge was made during a courtesy visit to the cleric in Ilorin on Tuesday, where the governor also solicited prayers for peace, stability, and continued development in Kwara State.

The details of the visit were publicly disclosed through a post on the official Facebook page of the Kwara State Government, which was viewed on Wednesday.

Accompanying Governor Abdulrazaq on the visit were notable figures, including the Commissioner for Education and Human Capital Development, Lawal Olohungbe, as well as other high-ranking government officials and political stakeholders who joined in congratulating the new Chief Imam on his appointment.

The governor described Sheikh Muhammad Bashir Dasuki Imam Fulani's emergence as a significant development for the Ilorin Emirate, highlighting that it symbolizes continuity, inclusiveness, and unity within the Muslim community.

Abdulrazaq reaffirmed his administration's commitment to supporting religious leadership in the state, using the visit as an opportunity to reiterate government backing for the new Chief Imam's office.

He expressed his support by stating, "We are fully behind you in this responsibility, and the government will provide a brand-new Jeep and a bus to support your movement and duties."

The governor further noted that the appointment of Sheikh Dasuki is part of a broader effort to strengthen unity across generations within the Muslim ummah in Kwara State.

He emphasized, "The emergence of a young and vibrant Azhari scholar as the new Chief Imam reflects our commitment to unity, development, and inclusiveness."

Abdulrazaq also offered prayers for divine guidance, protection, and long life for the new Chief Imam, urging residents of Ilorin Emirate and Kwara State at large to support him in the discharge of his spiritual responsibilities.

He said, "I pray that Allah guides and protects him, perfects His blessings upon him, and grants him good health and long life in service to the ummah, and I also urge everyone to support him in this noble responsibility."

The appointment of 42-year-old Imam Fulani as the 13th Chief Imam of Ilorin Emirate was announced on Wednesday, June 10, by Abdulraheem Muritala, Personal Assistant to the Emir of Ilorin, Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari.

Following the announcement, the governor congratulated the Emir, describing the selection as a reflection of wise leadership and careful consideration within the Emirate's traditional and spiritual hierarchy.

Prominent Islamic scholars, including the First Ubandoma of Ilorin Emirate, Sheikh Abdulkadir Oba Sholagberu, and Sheikh Sohibul Bayan, commended the governor for his sustained support for religious institutions and spiritual leaders in the state.
