Kwara State chapter of APC establishes committee to resolve internal disputes

The All Progressives Congress in Kwara State has constituted a five-member reconciliation committee to engage aggrieved members and other stakeholders in a bid to resolve internal differences and strengthen party cohesion ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The committee, which was announced in a statement issued on Friday by the State Publicity Secretary of the party, Babatunde Olawale, will be chaired by retired Colonel Ademola Lawal.

Other members of the committee are Assistant Comptroller General Ahmed Abbas, Engr. Musa Yeketi, Dr. (Mrs.) Oluwatoyin Opawoye and Hajia Kubura Kassum.

According to the statement, the committee is expected to engage all tendencies within the party, identify areas of disagreement and recommend practical solutions to foster unity among members.

Speaking on the committee’s mandate, the state chairman of the APC, Sunday Fagbemi, said the panel was established to ensure that all stakeholders are carried along as the party prepares for the next general election.

“This committee shall have the mandate to engage all stakeholders on areas of differences and make recommendations on how to bring everyone on the same page as we prepare for the general elections,” Fagbemi said.

The APC chairman explained that the initiative was aimed at strengthening internal democracy and giving every member of the party an opportunity to air their grievances.

“It is a show of respect to all our party leaders and members who may have one or two grievances.

n

“We feel everyone deserves to be heard and accommodated in different ways as members of the same larger political family,” he added.

Fagbemi said the composition of the committee reflected the party’s confidence in the experience and integrity of its members, expressing optimism that they would help restore harmony within the party.

“For us, every member is important. So this committee of eminent leaders and senior citizens provides a platform for all to work together for a stronger party,” the APC chairman stated.

The reconciliation move comes as political parties across the country begin internal consultations and strategic realignments ahead of the 2027 elections, with the Kwara APC seeking to consolidate its ranks and address concerns that could affect its electoral fortunes.
