Kwara Governor's Aide, Ajakaye, Announces Congressional Ambition

Rafiu Ajakaye, the spokesperson for Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, has formally expressed his intention to run for the House of Representatives seat representing Ifelodun/Offa/Oyun Federal Constituency.

Ajakaye made the announcement on Monday through a brief Yoruba video posted on his social media handles, in which he solicited the support of party leaders, members, and stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress for his aspiration.

This declaration comes at a time when political activities and consultations are gaining momentum ahead of the 2027 general elections, with various aspirants across Kwara State initiating moves to secure party structures and grassroots support.

Ajakaye, who has been serving as Chief Press Secretary to Governor AbdulRazaq since 2019, is widely regarded as a prominent media and policy voice within the current administration.

According to Ajakaye, his decision to contest was preceded by extensive consultations with party stakeholders and thought leaders both within and outside the constituency.

In the video, Ajakaye began by greeting the fathers, mothers, elders, and leaders of the All Progressives Congress, particularly those in Ifelodun/Offa/Oyun Federal Constituency, before introducing himself as Rafiu Ajakaye, PhD, and announcing his aspiration to become a Member of the House of Representatives under the APC banner.

Ajakaye stated that after holding several meetings and consultations with the elders and leaders of Ifelodun/Offa/Oyun Federal Constituency, he was pleased to inform the public that he would be contesting in the upcoming APC primary elections as a Member of the House of Representatives for the constituency.

Ajakaye emphasized that quality representation in the National Assembly would enhance governance and improve the delivery of democratic dividends to the people.

He noted that research by scholars and his personal experience have demonstrated that a state government can achieve more and deliver greater dividends of democracy to its people when supported by credible and quality lawmakers.

Ajakaye pledged to work closely with all stakeholders, including the state government, to align resources with public needs, and to serve as a partner for public good.

If elected, Ajakaye promised to provide honest, responsible, and competent representation, prioritizing the interests of his constituents and attracting development to the federal constituency.

Ajakaye urged all leaders and members of the party to collaborate with him to achieve sustainable growth and development in Ifelodun/Offa/Oyun.
