Kwara governor dismisses advisors, key officials in major government overhaul

Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, has dismissed all his political advisers and several top aides in what the government described as a minor cabinet reshuffle aimed at reinvigorating the administration.

Those affected by the decision include all Special Advisers, Advisers, Senior Special Assistants and Special Assistants, as well as the Deputy Chief of Staff and the Principal Private Secretary to the Governor.

The development was announced in a statement issued on Monday by the Deputy Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mashood Agboola.

According to the statement, the exercise was intended to create opportunities for more members of the ruling party while bringing fresh energy into the administration.

The statement read, “Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has approved a minor cabinet shake-up involving all Special Advisers, Advisers, Senior Special Assistants, and Special Assistants.

“The decision, which is meant to extend opportunities to more party members and inject fresh energy into the administration, also affected the Deputy Chief of Staff and the Principal Private Secretary to the Governor.”

The governor expressed appreciation to the affected officials for their contributions to his administration and wished them success in their future endeavours.

“His Excellency expresses his gratitude to all the appointees for their priceless service to the state. He wishes them the best in their future endeavours,” the statement said.

The government also directed all the affected appointees to immediately hand over government property in their possession.

“The governor directs all the affected appointees to hand over all government properties in their custody to the Office of the Secretary to the State Government,” the statement added.

Monday’s shake-up is expected to pave the way for fresh appointments as the AbdulRazaq administration moves to strengthen its team ahead of the next phase of governance.
