Kwara educational institutions set to resume on Monday, says government representative

The Kwara State Government has set Monday, April 20, 2026, as the resumption date for all public and private schools, marking the start of the third term after a three-week break, according to a recent announcement.

This decision was made following extensive consultations with key stakeholders in the education sector, as disclosed by Peter Amogbonjaye, Press Secretary of the Ministry of Education and Human Capital Development, in a statement released on Saturday.

Dr. Lawal Olohungbebe, the State Commissioner for Education and Human Capital Development, confirmed that the agreed resumption date aligns with the academic calendar for the third term during a statement at the ministry's headquarters in Ilorin.

Olohungbebe noted that the resumption date is a result of a collective agreement reached after wide consultations with critical stakeholders in the education sector, in line with the academic agenda for the third term, and commended teachers and non-teaching staff for their commitment to the sector.

The commissioner acknowledged the significant contributions of teachers and non-teaching staff to the improved learning outcomes in public schools across the state, praising their unwavering dedication as crucial to the sector's progress.

According to Olohungbebe, the progress made under the administration of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq is attributed to consistent policies, sustained investments, and the collective efforts of stakeholders, resulting in notable gains in the education sector.

The commissioner emphasized the importance of continued collaboration within the sector to consolidate existing achievements and improve the quality of education delivery across the state, stressing that the roles of teaching and non-teaching staff are pivotal in this process.
