Kebbi State Governor Establishes Additional Administrative Division, Installs Monarchs

Dr Nasir Idris, the Governor of Kebbi State, has given his approval for the establishment of a new district in Dandi Local Government Area, comprising eight village areas.

This move is part of broader efforts to bolster traditional administration and improve governance at the grassroots level, with the new district being created alongside a new village headship in Augie Local Government Area.

The Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Alhaji Garba Umar Dutsinmari, issued a statement in Birnin Kebbi on Thursday, outlining the details of the approvals.

According to the commissioner, the newly created district, known as Buma District, has been carved out of Dolekaina District in Dandi LGA, with Alhaji Salisu Hakimi appointed as its District Head.

The Buma District comprises eight Village Areas, specifically Tunga Rafi, Gamana, Tudunsan, Gillare, Bump Town, Goraro, Bukki, and Alfarma Kwara.

In addition to the district creation, the governor has also approved the appointment of Nasiru Umar Maizabo as the Village Head of Marafan Garin Haruna in Tiggi District, Augie LGA.

The appointments were made in line with the Kebbi State Local Government Law, 2008, particularly Section 10, Subsections (A) and (B), which grant powers related to district creation and district head appointments.

Alhaji Garba Umar Dutsinmari has urged the newly appointed traditional rulers to demonstrate discipline, honesty, transparency, and dedication in their responsibilities.

The commissioner assured the new appointees that their selections were based on their past records, and they can expect support and cooperation from the Governor and the Ministry.

The creation of the new district and appointments are anticipated to strengthen traditional institutions and enhance administration in the affected communities.
