Katsina state governor gives green light to construction of 20.37 kilometers of new roads

Dikko Radda, the Governor of Katsina State, has given the green light for the construction of 20.37 kilometres of township roads spanning three local government areas, in a bid to bolster urban infrastructure and stimulate economic growth.

This decision was made on Wednesday during the 10th Regular Meeting of the Katsina State Executive Council for 2026, which took place at the Government House in Katsina.

According to Engr. Sani Ingawa, the Commissioner for Works, Housing and Transport, the council approved contracts for several key projects, including the dualisation of the 3.0-kilometre Mashi Township Road.

Additionally, the council gave its approval for the construction of 6.67 kilometres of township roads in Bakori and 10.7 kilometres of township roads in Malumfashi.

These projects are a key part of Governor Radda's efforts to expand and modernise road infrastructure across major towns in the state, as outlined by Engr. Sani Ingawa.

Engr. Ingawa noted that the road projects will have a positive impact on the daily lives of residents in the benefiting communities, by improving connectivity and facilitating economic activities.

The projects are expected to make it easier for people to move around the affected towns, while also improving access to businesses and public facilities, and supporting socio-economic development.

As Engr. Ingawa explained, the road construction programme is aligned with the administration's broader infrastructure development agenda, which aims to provide durable roads that will boost commerce and improve transportation.

The approvals for these projects were among the key decisions made by the State Executive Council during its weekly meeting, which was chaired by Governor Radda.
