Katsina gov urges unity in North-West

Katsina State Governor, Dikko Radda, on Saturday called for stronger political coordination, grassroots engagement and strategic communication among stakeholders in the North-West region as part of efforts to reposition the zone in Nigeria’s evolving political and development landscape.

Radda made the call during a high-level stakeholders’ meeting held in Abuja with senior political office holders in the Federal Government, members of the National Assembly, heads of federal agencies and other stakeholders from Katsina State and the wider North-West.

This was contained in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Ibrahim Mohamed, and made available to journalists on Saturday in Katsina.

According to the statement, the meeting focused on strengthening political collaboration, improving stakeholder engagement and developing strategies to enhance governance and the region’s influence in national affairs.

Speaking at the meeting, the governor stressed the need to revive the Katsina stakeholders’ forum as a platform for unity, collaboration and policy alignment.

“This forum must be revived to enable us to work together in putting Katsina forward and contributing meaningfully to governance and the growth of our party,” the governor stated.

He also urged stakeholders to take ownership of the government’s narrative by promoting the achievements and programmes of Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

“We must not shy away from telling our story. The successes of this administration must be communicated clearly and consistently. There is a need to change the narrative and ensure our people fully understand the direction of the government,” he added.

Radda emphasised the role of effective communication, urging stakeholders to leverage radio and print media platforms to disseminate accurate information and strengthen public trust.

“Communication is central to governance. If we do not tell our story, others will tell it for us. We must utilize radio, print, and other platforms to keep our people informed and engaged,” he said.

The governor called on stakeholders in Katsina and the North-West to sustain their influence in national politics, particularly in shaping future political transitions.

“We must return to our grassroots, engage directly with our people, and demonstrate our relevance at the ward, local government, and state levels,” he said.

The statement added that key resolutions from the meeting included the need for improved funding of federal agencies to enhance service delivery, especially at the grassroots.

“We must ensure that critical stakeholders are carried along in decision-making processes at all levels. Inclusive governance is not optional; it is essential,” the statement emphasised.
