JAMB's Oloyede steps down, handing over to Aina this Friday

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board is set to witness a significant change in leadership as Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, the outgoing Registrar, prepares to hand over the reins to his successor, Prof. Segun Aina, on Friday.

This historic handover ceremony is scheduled to take place on July 31, 2026, at 10am and will be broadcast live on the board's official social media platforms, allowing the public to witness this pivotal moment.

In a public notice released on Wednesday, the board extended an invitation to the general public to participate in this landmark event, which marks a major milestone in the board's leadership journey.

The notification read, “Join us for the live broadcast of the official handover ceremony as Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, the outgoing Registrar of JAMB, formally hands over to Prof. Segun Aina,” thereby signifying the end of an era and the beginning of a new one.

The handover ceremony also signifies the conclusion of Oloyede's tenure as registrar, which comes to an end on July 31, and the official commencement of Aina's leadership of the examination body, marking a new chapter in its history.

President Bola Tinubu had previously appointed Aina as the new Registrar of JAMB to succeed Oloyede, as announced in a statement by the President's Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.

Aina, a Professor of Computer Engineering at Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, boasts expertise in digital infrastructure, national examination systems, and institutional reforms, making him an ideal candidate for the position.

His academic credentials include a Bachelor of Engineering in Computer Systems Engineering from the University of Kent, a Master's degree in Internet Computing and Network Security, and a PhD in Digital Signal Processing from Loughborough University, United Kingdom.

In addition to his academic achievements, Aina has also completed the Senior Management Programme at Lagos Business School, further solidifying his qualifications for the role.

With over 15 years of experience advising federal and state governments on digital transformation, institutional reforms, and systems design, Aina is well-equipped to take on the challenges of his new position.

Aina has also served as a consultant to prominent examination bodies, including the National Examinations Council and the National Business and Technical Examinations Board, where he focused on ICT systems and examination integrity.

The Presidency has described Aina as one of Nigeria's youngest professors of Computer Engineering, and his appointment as registrar will make him the youngest in JAMB's history.

President Tinubu has expressed confidence that Aina will build upon the reforms and achievements of Oloyede's administration and further strengthen the operations of the examination body, ensuring a bright future for JAMB.
