JAMB schedules June 13 for 2026 UTME supplementary exam

Saturday, June 13, 2026, has been set by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board as the date for the mop-up Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination, which will cater to candidates who faced technical challenges, biometric verification issues, and withdrawn results during the 2026 exercise.

This decision was announced in a statement issued on Monday, signed by Fabian Benjamin, the Board's Public Communications Adviser, who emphasized that the mop-up examination is exclusively for candidates who were properly registered and biometrically verified but were unable to take the main examination due to disruptions.

Candidates affected by the issues include those whose centres experienced technical failures, those who could not be verified biometrically despite presenting themselves, and candidates whose results were withdrawn due to alleged examination infractions.

The mop-up exercise marks the final stage of the 2026 UTME cycle, aimed at resolving all outstanding cases that arose during the main examination period.

The 2026 UTME was conducted between April 23 and 29, 2026, but some centres encountered technical challenges that prevented a number of candidates from taking the examination.

Additionally, some results were withdrawn due to examination infractions, while some candidates who presented themselves for the examination could not be verified biometrically, as noted by the Board.

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board stressed that the mop-up examination is the last chance for affected candidates to complete the 2026 UTME process.

The mop-up examination represents the final phase of the annual UTME exercise, providing an opportunity to address all outstanding examination challenges involving candidates who duly presented themselves but encountered difficulties in taking the examination.

Candidates are expected to start printing their examination notification slips from Saturday, June 6, 2026, to prepare for the exercise, and they must also confirm their centres and make necessary arrangements.

Affected candidates have been urged to print their Examination Notification Slips, familiarize themselves with their examination centres, and make all necessary arrangements ahead of the examination date.

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board warned that no further opportunity will be provided after the mop-up exercise, emphasizing the need for strict compliance with all instructions.

This development follows the main 2026 UTME, which was conducted between April 16 and 25, 2026, with results starting to be released from around April 18, although some centres were affected by technical glitches and biometric verification challenges.

Prior to the examination cycle, the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board had concluded its policy meeting on May 11, 2026, where minimum admissible cut-off marks were approved at 150 for universities, 150 for colleges of nursing, and 100 for polytechnics.

The institutions retain the discretion to set higher benchmarks for competitive courses, according to the policy meeting's outcome.

The mop-up examination is expected to conclude the 2026 UTME process, paving the way for admission consideration processes that will combine UTME scores, Post-UTME performance, and O-Level requirements as determined by individual institutions.
