JAMB confirms CAPS outage, cites hosting technical glitches

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has confirmed that its Central Admissions Processing System is temporarily unavailable, after candidates reported difficulties accessing the platform for about a day.

JAMB attributed the disruption to technical challenges associated with the hosting arrangements for the platform.

In a statement on Thursday, the Board said it had commenced discussions with the hosting organisation and was working to restore the system.

The statement read, “JAMB wishes to inform candidates, institutions and all other users that the Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS) is temporarily unavailable due to technical challenges associated with its hosting arrangements.

“The Board has commenced intensive engagement with the hosting organisation and is working to restore the platform to full functionality as quickly as possible.

“We recognise the importance of CAPS, particularly at this critical stage of the admission exercise, and regret the inconvenience this disruption may cause.

“Please be assured that we are working to resolve the issue and will provide further updates as developments unfold.

“Thank you for your patience and understanding.”

The announcement followed complaints from candidates on social media, particularly on X, who had reported difficulties accessing CAPS since Wednesday.

Some candidates said the platform had failed to load, while others reported being redirected or receiving messages indicating that the site was unavailable.

Several candidates also tagged JAMB’s official X account, @jamb_hq, seeking clarification and a resolution, with some saying they needed access to check their admission status or accept admission offers.

CAPS is JAMB’s platform for processing admissions and allows candidates to view admission offers and take related steps, including accepting or rejecting offers.

The disruption comes during the ongoing 2026 admission exercise, when candidates are relying on the platform to monitor their admission status and complete required admission processes.

Candidates have previously reported technical difficulties with CAPS during periods of heavy admission activity, including slow loading and problems displaying some information.

JAMB, however, did not give a specific timeline for the restoration of the platform in its latest statement.
