Ize-Iyamu calls for transparent Edo APC election, shoots down speculation of party switch.

Osagie Ize-Iyamu, a senatorial aspirant for Edo South and a prominent figure in the All Progressives Congress, has urged the party's leadership to prioritize transparency and impartiality in the upcoming primaries, emphasizing the need to avoid imposing candidates on members.

The call to action was made in a statement released by Ize-Iyamu on Wednesday, in which he stressed that party members should be given the freedom to make their choices without fear of reprisal or coercion, as this would be crucial in maintaining party unity and public trust.

Ize-Iyamu cautioned against the undue influence of certain individuals, pointing out that instructing appointees or stakeholders to support specific candidates undermines the democratic principles that the party is founded upon.

He emphasized that the primaries must be conducted in a transparent and fair manner, warning that the imposition of candidates would erode trust and undermine party unity, and expressed confidence that the party leadership would act in the best interest of the party.

Ize-Iyamu also used the opportunity to address speculation about his future in politics, stating that he has no intention of leaving the APC, regardless of the circumstances, and reaffirming his loyalty to President Bola Tinubu and Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo.

He praised President Tinubu's efforts to reposition the country and commended Governor Okpebholo's efforts to develop the state's infrastructure, reiterating his commitment to the party and its ideals.

Ize-Iyamu is set to compete against incumbent Neda Imasuen and two-time House of Representatives member, Omoregie Ogbeide-Ihama, in a highly contested race for the Edo South senatorial seat.
