Iwobi prepared to adjust following Silva's departure

Fulham midfielder Alex Iwobi says he is ready to work with whoever becomes the club’s next manager following the departure of Marco Silva after five years at Craven Cottage, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.

The 30-year-old became a key figure for Fulham under Silva, becoming the Nigerian with the most Premier League appearances while also reaching a career-high mark for goal involvements in a top-flight season.

However, the Cottagers stalled on renewing the contract of the former Watford coach, and many believe that decision played a key role in derailing Fulham’s European ambitions as they fell short by just one point.

Silva has now signed a two-year deal with Benfica, with the option of a further year, but Fulham are yet to replace the Portuguese.

The Cottagers are reportedly in talks with former Real Madrid coach Álvaro Arbeloa, although no agreement has been reached.

Championship title-winning manager Frank Lampard, who previously coached Iwobi at Everton, has also been linked with the vacancy at the West London club.

Asked how he feels about the uncertainty surrounding who will be in the dugout next season, the Super Eagles centurion remained calm, trusting in his ability to adapt to any system introduced by a new coach.

“Yeah, I mean, I can only go off my experience with the national team and at Everton,” the one-time FA Cup winner said in quotes published by TalkSPORT.

“I’ve had several managers there, so it won’t be difficult for me to adapt.

“We’ll be ready to play for whoever the manager is.”

The former Arsenal man has been vocal about how Lampard revived his career at Everton and is open to working with the former Chelsea midfielder again if the opportunity arises.

“Of course, I’ve worked with Frank Lampard before and he’s someone I really enjoyed working with.

n

“But I don’t really mind as long as the manager that comes in wants to help better the club and so do the players.

“So whoever the manager is, we’re ready to work with them.

n

“Obviously, when we got told that Marco was leaving, I was active.

n

“Thinking, ‘Oh no, who are we going to get in next?’

n

“But ever since then, it’s been pretty quiet,” the midfielder concluded.

Iwobi’s contract with Fulham runs until the summer of 2028.
