Iran plans to file formal protest with FIFA regarding World Cup limitations

Iran's national football team is set to file a complaint with FIFA over travel restrictions imposed during the World Cup tournament in North America, according to the Iranian football federation spokesman, who made the announcement on Thursday.

The team had submitted its preparation schedule well in advance, but still faces restrictions from the organisers, which are hindering the technical staff's plans, the spokesman explained.

The Iranian team, based in Tijuana, Mexico, had requested to travel to the United States two days prior to their upcoming match against Belgium, scheduled for Sunday in Los Angeles.

However, the Iranian federation claims that their request was rejected, despite the team's need for sufficient time to adapt to the match conditions and complete their final preparations.

The Football Federation of Iran had specifically asked to travel to Los Angeles two days before the match, which is set to kick off at 12:00 pm local time, in order to allow players to acclimate and finalize their preparations.

According to the spokesman, the federation presented technical reasons to support their request, but it was denied nonetheless.
