INEC Boss Amupitan Set to Engage in Election Discussion with Key Players

Prof. Joash Amupitan, Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission and a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, will deliver a keynote address at an upcoming stakeholders' policy dialogue focused on Nigeria's electoral process.

The event, scheduled for April 29, 2026, is being organised by Law Corridor, a law firm based in Abuja, and will take place at the Abuja Continental Hotel.

A statement issued by the organisers on Friday revealed that the high-level dialogue will assemble leaders from various political parties, civil society organisations, and local and international election observers to discuss key issues impacting the country's electoral system.

Notable experts expected to attend the event include Muyiwa Atoyebi, Seun Okinbaloye, Bala Maiyaki, Ahmed Raji, Patrick Ikwueto, Alhassan Umar, Dantele Yusuf, and Bukola Idowu, among others.

The primary goal of the engagement, according to the organisers, is to foster collaboration among stakeholders from both the public and private sectors to address critical challenges ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Henry Kelechukwu Eni-Otu, the Managing Partner of Law Corridor, stressed the importance of this year's policy dialogue given its proximity to the 2027 general elections, highlighting the need to address certain issues regarding Nigeria's electoral process.

Eni-Otu believes that the stakeholder engagements will provide a way forward to further guarantee the integrity of the electoral process.

A policy brief containing recommendations and a reform roadmap will be released after the event and submitted to relevant government ministries and agencies, according to the organisers.

The previous edition of the event, which focused on issues in the real estate sector, was presided over by Ola Olukoyede, the Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.
